Roof7® Bitumen Tar is one of the most versatile professional products in the Mayermoover range of adhesives and sealants . Ideal for sealing, repairing, and waterproofing, this fiberglass-reinforced bitumen tar compound offers high performance even in extreme conditions.
In this article, we answer our customers' most common questions, providing useful technical information for proper and long-lasting application.
1. Is Roof7® Bitumen Tar also suitable for infiltration problems between two adjacent insulated sheets?
Yes, it is perfectly suitable for sealing joints and gaps between two insulated sheets .
Thanks to its adhesion to metal and bituminous surfaces , the product creates a waterproof and flexible film that prevents water infiltration and condensation, even in the presence of vibrations or thermal expansion.
Fiberglass reinforcement increases the mechanical resistance and durability of the seal, ensuring a stable result for up to 20 years.
Technical advice: to obtain maximum adhesion, make sure the surface is clean from dust, rust or oil residues, although the product can be applied on damp or wet substrates.
2. Can it be applied to a surface where there is already tar sheathing or does the sheathing have to be removed first?
Roof7® can be applied directly over an existing tarred membrane , provided that it is intact and well anchored to the substrate .
It is not necessary to remove the old sheathing, except in cases where it is detached, blistered, deeply cracked, or brittle . In such cases, it is best to remove only the damaged areas and apply bituminous tar as a repair layer .
This feature makes it an ideal product for rapid maintenance and waterproofing interventions on roofs, terraces, gutters or chimneys, even in conditions of humidity or low temperatures (up to -12°C ).
3. Is it okay on floors with concrete blocks suitable for cars, in the joints?
Yes, Roof7® Bitumen Tar can also be used to seal joints between driveway concrete slabs , as long as the surface is not subject to excessive movement or direct abrasion from wheels.
The product adheres well to concrete and forms a waterproof, elastic film, ideal for preventing water infiltration into the joints and protecting the underlying base.
However, it is advisable to evaluate the intended use of the area:
-
For occasional passages of cars or light vehicles , the product guarantees an excellent hold.
-
For areas subject to heavy or continuous traffic , it is preferable to use a polyurethane sealant specifically for driveways, possibly combined with Roof7® as an underlying waterproofing layer.
Roof7® Bitumen Tar is a high-performance professional product, designed for those who want a unique solution for repairing, sealing and waterproofing .
Its ability to adhere even on damp surfaces , combined with its resistance to temperature changes and its twenty-year lifespan , makes it one of the best products in the adhesives and sealants category.
